More Than Just a Body: Supporting All Parts of You Through Pelvic Pain

You are not just your body—and your pain is not just physical. Here's why taking care of your whole self matters when you're living with pelvic pain.

In an earlier blog post, I talked about checking in with yourself through four lenses: physical, mental, emotional, and energetic. Let’s dive into why that matters—especially when you're living with pelvic pain.

Pelvic pain can absolutely fucking suck. Not just because it hurts, but because it often shows up in a part of the body that feels taboo to talk about. When something hurts and you can’t speak about it, it can create an even deeper kind of pain—one that’s lonely, hidden, and heavy. And when we suppress things emotionally, they often show up physically too.

When we live with pain, especially chronic or persistent pain, we often get stuck in the physical layer of it. But here’s the thing:

🌀 You are more than just a body.

🌀 Your pain affects you mentally.

🌀 It affects you emotionally.

🌀 It even affects your energy.

And when those areas are left unacknowledged or unsupported, they can start feeding back into the pain loop. It’s a bit of a catch-22.

A Check-In From My Real Life

Let’s say I wake up and my body feels stiff and achy. Instead of just stopping there, I go deeper:

  • Mentally? A bit foggy. It’s one of those “meh” days. Okay—good to notice.

  • Emotionally? Actually, I feel pretty good—I'm ovulating, and that tends to bring a little emotional lift for me.

  • Energetically? I had a good sleep and woke up feeling somewhat light. If I hadn’t, I’d ask: What could help me feel a bit lighter today?

This kind of check-in gives me a fuller picture of where I’m at—and where I might need support.

How to support yourself with pelvic pain

How to Support Yourself With Pelvic Pain (When Movement Feels Like Too Much)

Sometimes, zooming in on the physical body feels like too much—especially when you're flared up or just… over it. And that’s okay.

Maybe you can’t move today. But maybe you can:

📝 Journal to support your emotional self 🌬 Breathe intentionally to support your energetic self 📞 Message your therapist to support your mental self

These aren’t lesser forms of healing. They’re all part of how to support yourself with pelvic pain—because even though everything is connected, sometimes one small shift in one area can help carry you through the day.

And of course—this is where your yoga practice comes in too. Yoga meets all of you: 💫 Physically 💫 Mentally 💫 Emotionally 💫 Energetically(and yes, even Spiritually if you want to go there.)
