Root Chakra healing for Pelvic Pain

Your pelvic pain is more than just physical, and I think it's super important to treat it that way. This blog post might be a little bit woo, but you're already in this space, and if you've ever jammed with any of my Reels, this is right up your alley - so we're going for it.

If you've been to a Pelvic Health Yoga class, you know that I often talk about the Chakras and energy - it's kinda my jam.

And today we are starting a Chakras & Pelvic Pain series - beginning with the first chakra of the seven main chakras, the Root Chakra. This is one of the two chakras that is mostly associated with the pelvic bowl, and the reason for this is because it is located in the perineum. Going to a yoga class you often hear that it is located at the base of the spine, but we're ain't sugar coating it in this space - we're calling it out for what it is. The perineum is located between the vaginal opening and the anal opening.

If, for example, you may be living with Lichen Sclerosus and you tend to get tears in that area, over and over again. How do you think that might affect the energy of your Root Chakra?

Or, as I often say in the Pelvic Health Yoga classes, breathe into your perineum - then you are breathing into your Root Chakra, and you want to feel the pelvic floor move with the breath. If you don't feel the pelvic floor expanding with the inhales, you might instead feel restriction, tension, or that the pelvic floor is trying to protect you - what might that say about your Root Chakra? If you don't have this breathing down yet, don't worry! Head on over to my Instagram videos, or find the Pelvic Breathing session in the Pelvic Health Yoga membership. Proper breathing, breathing with your pelvic floor, is going to help you So Much with your pain. Only working on your breath alone will help you on your healing journey tremendously.

Your Root Chakra: Color: Red Element: Water Stability Security Support Presence Feeling grounded Connected to oneself and others Feeling safe Physical part: Feet, legs, perineum, rectum, and large intestines, governs the adrenal glands

If your Root Chakra is blocked it can affect your health, holistically. You can feel pain in the physical body (hellooooo), fear, insecurity, not feeling at home in your body, financial insecurity. We want all the chakras to be open so that the energy can flow freely along the spine, from the Root Chakra all the way up to your Crown Chakra. If one chakra is blocked, the energy can't pass through it and that might cause issues in that part of your being - because the energy is stuck.

What can you do to activate/balance/open your Root Chakra?

  • Spend time in nature

  • Walk barefoot (🤌🏽 for pelvic health)

  • Meditate to ground yourself

  • Pay attention to your posture and how you stand on this earth

  • Use grounding essential oils

  • Use a massage ball to ease foot tension

  • Practice grounding yoga poses: Child's pose Mountain pose (again posture) Seated postures (sitting on both sitz bones)

Affirmation: I feel supported by the ground beneath me.

Is there anything else that you can think of that you can do to activate your Sacral Chakra? Comment down below!

Lots of love, Penny
