Finding Magic in Your Life While Living With Pelvic Pain

As we step into October, this really is the time to harness some of that magic we’ve been touching on. So, this month's Pelvic Relief Bingo Card is focusing on a little more of that - the magic in the air and the spirit of this time of year:

Root & Ritual: Finding Magic in Your Life

This month is about rooting down, clearing, perhaps creating some new rituals, and connecting with yourself in a different way.

In this blog post, I'm diving a little deeper into a few of the squares on this month's bingo card.

Make a Simmer Pot

I like to make simmer pots to cleanse any negative energy I might be holding onto, while also making my home smell amazing! I tend to do this when I'm already cleaning, and it turns something ordinary into a little ritual.

How to: Salt - to banish negative energy Lavender - to soothe Cinnamon - to bring warmth Rosemary - for purification/protection Cloves - for more fiery protection Thyme - for mental strength Basil - to balance energy Lemon - for new energy/cleansing

Put in a pot of water Stir counter clockwise to release the energy Leave on low for several hours

Humming Breath

Humming is a breathwork technique that can support parasympathetic activity and create a sense of slowing down. I also love it as a way to bring awareness and softness to the jaw and neck-areas where many of us living with pelvic pain may notice that we hold tension.

Inhale slowly through your nose. With your lips gently closed, exhale with a hum. See if you can allow your exhale to become a little longer than your inhale.

Notice the vibration throughout your jaw, the rest, of your body, and perhaps even your pelvis.

Watch Practical Magic

One of my favourite movies, and I always watch it this time of year. It's romantic, cozy, a bit thrilling, and just an overall vibe.

So why did I add this one to the bingo card? And why is it the very first square?

Because I invite you to explore this month's theme with a little of the energy of this movie. Make things cozy. Create little rituals. Light the candles. Put on the music. Make it magical!

Candlelit Meditation

Light a candle, soften your gaze, and focus on the flame as you slowly inhale and exhale through your nose.

Notice what happens as you give yourself permission to slow down and simply be with the flame. What do you notice in your breath? Your body? Your nervous system?

Stay here for a few minutes and let this be your little ritual.

Find a Little Piece of Nature to Bring Home

Foraging can be a beautiful way to slow down, pay attention to your surroundings, and connect with Mother Earth. Notice the changing colours, fallen leaves, acorns, chestnuts, or whatever catches your eye.

Did you know keeping a chestnut in your pocket may bring you luck? I always pick some this time of year, which makes it feel a bit more magical.

Perhaps you like to journal and could press some fallen leaves between the pages, just like you did in school when you were a kid.

Just be mindful of local rules and what you're collecting—sometimes the magic can simply be noticing something and leaving it where it is.

Find the Rest of the Magic

These are just a few of the practices waiting for you on October's Pelvic Relief Bingo Card.
