Welcome back to part 4 of the Chakra Healing for Pelvic Pain series! If you missed the earlier posts, you can catch up here: Root Chakra & Pelvic PainSacral Chakra & Pelvic PainSolar Plexus Chakra & Pelvic Pain

We work with the chakras to support pelvic pain on many levels - because your pain is more than just physical.

Today, we’re exploring the Heart Chakra, located right at the center of your chest. This chakra is the bridge between the lower and upper chakras, connecting earthly matters with higher aspirations.

What is the Heart Chakra?

The Heart Chakra (Anahata) is your center of love, compassion, and healing.

Your Heart Chakra governs:

  • Love (for self and others)

  • Forgiveness

  • Gratitude

  • Healing

  • Peace & compassion

  • Joy & generosity

Physical connection: heart, lungs, chest, arms, and hands

Why the Heart Chakra and Pelvic Pain Are Connected

So how does the Heart Chakra tie into pelvic pain?

Living with pain in intimate areas - vulva, vagina, bladder, uterus - can feel taboo. Many of us carry shame, fear, or silence around it. These heavy emotions are the opposite of love and compassion - and they can weigh on the heart.

Think about where you physically feel these emotions: anxiety in your chest, grief pressing down, shoulders rounding forward as if to protect your heart.

When the Heart Chakra is blocked, you might notice:

• Grief, anger, jealousy, or resentment

• Fear of being seen in your vulnerability

• Shame that makes you withdraw

• Collapsed posture and rolled-forward shoulders

When it’s balanced, you feel open, compassionate, and supported - and that openness can ripple down to the pelvis too.

The Heart Chakra & Pelvic Healing

Healing here isn’t about ignoring the hard feelings - it’s about letting love, forgiveness, and gratitude support you through them. Gratitude is powerful, but it can feel out of reach if your nervous system is dysregulated. Start with gentle nervous system practices - like slow breathing, grounding, or tapping - before layering in gratitude.

Ways to Activate & Balance the Heart Chakra

The element of this chakra is air - so think breath, openness, expansion.

✔️ Heart-opening yoga poses:

  • Supported chest opener (lying on a pillow, arms wide)

  • Cat/Cow

  • Sphinx pose

  • Puppy pose

✔️ Carry or meditate with rose quartz ✔️ Practice daily gratitude (name 3 things each morning and actually feel them)

These yoga poses are not only heart openers - they also support pelvic pain release. I teach them often in my Pelvic Health Yoga Membership, along with other guided Pelvic practices.

Affirmation: I choose love over fear.

Try This Heart Chakra and Pelvic Pain Healing Practice

I'm actually going to give you two practices to try this week:

  1. Seated cat/cow with self hug - Come into a kneeling or cross-legged position, sitting on both sitz bones. Take an inhale and open the arms wide while shifting the weight to the front of your pelvis (cow). As you exhale, shift the weight back and give yourself a big hug (cat). Do this 10 times, moving with the breath feeling the expansion of the inhale, and giving yourself a big hug as you exhale. Alternate the arms.

  1. Sternum tapping - This could be done seated or standing. Using your fingertips you are tapping on your chest. This is a great exercise for anxious feelings, and you can do it anywhere. As I do this one I like to visualize myself tapping away on anything that might be stuck in my heart that hinders it to open up. Kind of like tapping on glass that is slowly breaking. You can go slower to tap into the parasympathetic response, and faster to tap into the sympathetic response.
