Welcome back to part 5 of the Chakra Healing for Pelvic Pain series!

If you missed the earlier posts, you can catch up here:

We work with the chakras to support pelvic pain on many levels — because your pain is more than just physical. Today we are addressing how your Throat Chakra and pelvic pain may be related.

What Is the Throat Chakra?

The Throat Chakra (Vishuddha) is located at your throat — your energetic center of communication, truth, and self-expression.

Your Throat Chakra governs:

Communication Speaking your truth (with yourself and others - hello speaking up for yourself at the doctor's office)

Authentic self-expression

Creativity through voice and sound

Physical connection: throat, jaw, mouth, neck, shoulders, and thyroid.

Why the Throat Chakra and Pelvic Pain Are Connected

You might not think your throat and pelvis are related — but they are deeply connected through both emotion and fascia.

Living with pelvic pain often brings emotional weight: frustration, shame, or the fear of being misunderstood. Speaking about these intimate experiences — with your partner, friends, or healthcare provider — can feel overwhelming.

This tension often shows up in the body:

  • Tight jaw or TMJ (I have a blog post that goes deeper into the Jaw-Pelvis connection, read it here)

  • Neck and shoulder tension

  • Difficulty expressing needs or setting boundaries

The Throat Chakra is connected to the pelvis. Both are centers of creativity, vulnerability, and release. If one is constricted, the other often follows.

Signs of a Blocked Throat Chakra

When this chakra is blocked or imbalanced, you might notice: • Jaw tension or teeth clenching • Neck and shoulder tightness • Feeling unheard or silenced • Struggling to express needs or emotions

When balanced, you’ll feel:

✨ Open and honest in communication ✨ Confident in expressing your needs ✨ Physically lighter in the neck/jaw/shoulder region and pelvis

Ways to Activate & Balance the Throat Chakra

The element of this chakra is ether (space) — so think vibration, sound, and openness.

Sing or hum — sound creates healing vibration for your vagus nerve. Relax your jaw — let your tongue rest, unclench, and exhale audibly. Neck rolls to release physical tension. Lion’s Breath - inhale through nose, exhale with the tongue sticking out downward and make a haaa sound. Supported Fish Pose Use essential oils: peppermint or eucalyptus.

Affirmation: I speak my truth with love and confidence.

Try This Mini-Practice

Jaw-to-Pelvis Connection Exercise

  1. Sit comfortably and soften your face.

  2. Bring your awareness to your pelvic floor and, at the same time, gently clench your jaw.

  3. Relax your jaw, then clench it again — continue alternating between the two while keeping your awareness on your pelvic floor.

  4. Notice how your pelvis responds each time. Do as many mindful rounds as feels right.

  5. Finally, take a deep inhale all the way in, and exhale through an open mouth release — feel free to be loud.

Notice if your jaw softens, your breath deepens, or your pelvic floor lets go a little more each time.

I’m not a doctor, and this blog isn’t medical advice. I share from a yogic perspective and lived experience — along with what I witness in my students’ journeys.
